Radiant Floor Heating System

Over the past twenty years the use of radiant floor heating system has increased considerably. In Germany, Denmark and Austria from 30 to 50% of new residential buildings are equipped with floor heating. In Korea, about 90% of houses and the floors are heated through floors.
Even 100 years BC, the Koreans used the smoke chamber as a means of heating the stone floor. Smoke from the cooking fire set aside for the massive stone floor to the opposite wall, then climbed up the cavity wall, which served as a chimney. Almost at the same time, the Romans used the floor heating, too.
Architect F. L. Wright was the first person who applied floor heating in the United States in 1930. Hot water which passed through the steel pipes served as a coolant.
During the 1950-1960 period the installation of radiant floor heating system with steel or copper pipes appeared in Western Europe. Unfortunately, the thermal insulation of buildings was imperfect. By the end of 1970 floor heating is becoming more widespread, particularly in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Scandinavian countries.
Radiant floor heating systems is used primarily in residential buildings. However, in Europe it is also widely used for commercial and industrial buildings.
